Do Taara links require line of sight to work?

Yes, Taara Lightbridge is a point to point line of sight technology that uses light propagating in free space to wirelessly transmit video, voice and data at high speeds. It's important that the signal between Taara terminals isn't interrupted, so they're placed up high on towers, poles, or rooftops.

How do we align the Taara link?

Installers can use any flashing device (e.g., mirror, flashlight) to point the Taara terminal at the base site in the direction of the remote site, and then use an in-built camera to bring the terminals into coarse alignment. Installers then run a raster scan to complete alignment and bring up the link. Once the link is established, the terminals are equipped with proprietary algorithms that maintain two-stage active tracking.

Does Taara provide training or support for link installation?

Yes! We offer training online via Taara University and also in-person through 3 days of on-site training. Installers familiar with deployment of radio equipment will be able to follow along easily.

Does Taara provide tools and consummables required for link installation?

With each pair of Taara terminals, we package and ship a set of common consummables required for installation. These are mounting brackets, Octis connectors, Ethernet cables, fiber optic patch cables, PoE injectors, and transceivers. Materials that may vary or already exist on site, like outdoor power cables, switches, and management link are procured locally by the installers. A workstation, which may be a physical device or virtual server, is also required for remote access and configuration of the terminals. Common reusable tools like flashing device, binoculars, and 5 mm and 6 mm hex keys are not provided.

Can we install Taara terminals on rooftops?

Yes! Taara terminals are mounted on a range of structures including building rooftops, cell towers, and on the sides of walls.
