Monitoring

How do we monitor the Taara link performance?

Taara terminals come with a Simple Network Management Protocol interface, which allows you to monitor the links with your own network management system.

Alternatively, we can provide 24/7 real-time monitoring service by streaming telemetry to Taara Cloud instance and give you access to the performance metrics on a visualization tool called Taara Prism. We monitor various metrics including overall link health, throughput, latency, packet loss rate, received signal strength, and outages.

What happens when the link goes down? Will we get alerts? How do we troubleshoot?

If any of the values cross the prescribed upper or lower bound thresholds, our network operations center (NOC) receives automatic alerts and triages the issue according to severity. The NOC will first execute basic troubleshooting steps to resolve alarms. This includes responding to power issues and service disruptions in coordination with your operations team. If the alarms require advanced troubleshooting beyond written procedure, the NOC will escalate the issue to the Taara engineering team for deeper root cause analysis.

How do we bring the Taara link back up after an outage?

The Taara link will automatically recover from weather-related or power outages. The terminals use their last known mirror positions, search and auto-realign as long as there haven’t been any major changes to the pole mounting structure, azimuth, or elevation.

We recommend you secure basic back-up power on site (using an uninterrupted power supply) to handle short term power outages of 2 to 3 hours, to ensure connectivity even if there is a larger region-wide outage.

How quickly can the Taara team resolve outages?

For outages from which the link cannot auto-recover, we will work closely with your operators team to resolve the issue or propose a reasonable resolution within 24 hours.

Are you seeing all my data ("privacy")?

The Taara team only monitors metrics related to link health and throughput. We do not have visibility into the content of the data traffic, nor do we have the access or capabilities to detect or extract Personally Identifiable Information.

Where is your Network Operations Center?

Taara NOC is located in Chennai, India.

Why do you need remote access to the links?

If the deal is a bandwidth as a service, this is the only way we can monitor throughput and bill based on usage. If the deal is a hardware sale, and you do not require monitoring services, we do not need to access link telemetry.

Can we generate automatic daily report from NMS?

Yes! Our NOC team generates weekly reports on link performance and can share with customers. Zabbix is an open source network management system that customers can also set up for monitoring the link performance on their own, and we can help you configure this Zabbix environment to generate daily performance reports.

How can we monitor both Taara Lightbridge and radio links together?

We are happy to provide support in creating this view for monitoring your wireless optical and radio links together. Please contact support@taaraconnect.com.

Does Taara support on-prem monitoring?

Should you require on-prem network management system for regulatory compliance within your organization or country, we are happy to provide support in setting this up in coordination with your operations team. Please contact support@taaraconnect.com.
